INFO: The Mrežnica is a river in Karlovac County, Croatia. It is 63 kilometres (39 mi) long and its basin covers an area of 64 sq kilometres (25 sq mi). It rises in Kordun, west of Slunj, and flows northwards, in parallel to Dobra and Korana, through Generalski Stol and Duga Resa, when it finally flows into the Korana in the south of Karlovac (at Mostanje/Turanj). Mrežnica is considered special due to its large number of waterfalls, totalling 93.

The Mreznice river
"I have never seen a river that I could not love. Moving water... has power and grace and associations. It has a thousand colors and a thousand shapes, yet it follows laws so definite that the tiniest streamlet is an exact replica of a great river." ~Roderick Haig Brown

Before getting into our kayaks ... first JUMP!

“Oh, Eeyore, you are wet!” said Piglet, feeling him.
Eeyore shook himself, and asked somebody to explain to Piglet what happened when you had been inside a river for quite a long time.” ― A.A. Milne

until next time

We spend an amazing day on the water paddling through short rapids, over a few waterfalls and through still waters by beautiful scenery. Plus lots of jumping off waterfalls, swimming and relaxing in the sun. The water was very cold, making the neoprene suit and water boots a blessing. We brought lunch and water plus one iphone to take the pictures and a few videos.

"The river Mreznica, one of Croatia’s desirable retreats due to its transparent green water, unspoiled woods and magical landscapes with 93 waterfalls.
The adventure wides through a gorge so narrow and deep that the sun enters for only a few hours each day, around noon, creating spectacular light effects. You pass cliffs of carved white rocks, lush vegetation and cascading waterfalls, strong freshwater springs and pools of water which are great for swimming. The second highest waterfall on the Mreznica (8m) is a magical place ideal for swimming and a picnic. "  http://raftrek.com/en/day-trips

A very doable day-trip from Zagreb. And worth the stop for a fresh Trout dinner in Rostoke.
